Czech Style Apple Pie - Jablecny kolac


Ingredients

- two 9-inch pie crusts
- 4 big green apples
- 4 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
- 4 tablespoons of sugar (or little more if you like)

Directions

1. Place 1 pie crust inside your 9-inch form.
2. Cut apples into slices (1/4'')
3. Place apples on crust (sprinkle the apples with sugar and cinnamon)
4. Place 2nd crust on pie and make little holes into crust.
5. Bake for 30 minutes or till the crust is nicely gold.
6. Sprinkle the top with powdered sugar.

Pickled cheese - Nakladany syr



Ingredients

- President (Brie) cheese
- 1 jalapeno pepper
- 1 small onion
- 6 cloves of garlic
- 4 bay leaves
- 5 balls of whole black pepper
- 5 balls of whole allspice
- olive oil

Directions

1. Cut cheese in pieces (any size is possible, smaller is better, 1'' wide)
2. Take any glass jar (I used the one from my bell peppers) and start with cheese on the bottom.
3. Cut all vegetables into small pieces.
4.. Rotate the ingredients in the jar (cheese, garlic, onion, cheese, jalapeno spices, cheese...). Also you can push garlic inside your cheese.
5. When your jar is full with our mix, fill jar with olive oil.
6. Put inside your fridge and let sit for at least 5 days.
7. Serve with bread, wine or just as it is.

Cocoa balls - Cokoladove koule - The best chocolate treat you will ever taste


Ingredients

- 100 g of dark chocolate (shredded)
- 100 g of powdered sugar
- 100 g of fine shredded almonds
- 1 egg white (raw)
- rum or any your favorite cognac
- dark chocolate for covering the balls

Filling

- 125 g of unsalted butter
- 1 hard boiled egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon of powdered sugar

Directions

1. Mix dark dough in one bowl. Mix filling in other bowl.
2. Make a little flat circle from a dark dough, make a little ball from the filling and place it on the flat circle of dark dough.
3. Form a ball, place it in the bowl full of shredded dark chocolate and cover the whole surface.
4. Refrigerate for at least 5 hours - if possible and serve.

Linecke kolacky - The easiest recipe from my mom







Ingredients


- 1 cup and 1 tablespoon of flour (250 g)
- 1 and 1/4 stick of unsalted butter (140 g)
- 1/4 of cup and 2 tablespoons of white powdered sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- juice from 1 lemon

Directions

1. Beat everything together and make nice tough dough.
2. Put in the fridge for 1 - 2 hours.
3. Roll out the dough on a floured surface (1/4 '' thick) prevent sticking with turning the dough over and sprinkling with flour from both sides
4. Use cookie cutter (any shape you like - circles, stars...) to cut out the cookies. In half of them cut smaller circle (or star) in the center.
5. Transfer cookies on ungreased baking sheet and place in the preheated oven (325 Degrees Fahrenheit) for 10 minutes (or until nice gold color).
6. Cool down.
7. The ones with the little inner circle sprinkle with powdered sugar (this will be your top part). The other half of the cookies cover with any jam (we use strawberry or raspberry) and put together with the top part.

Kureci spizy - Czech Skewers

 

Ingredients

- chicken breast
- 1 small onion
- 1 small zucchini 
- 1 chili pepper
- 1/2 of green pepper
- 2 tablespoon of oil
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 tablespoon of paprika or curry

Directions

1. Cut meat, onion, zucchini, green pepper and chili pepper into small pieces (should be the same size, slices or circles)
2. Put meat in a bowl, add oil and spices. Let sit for 5 minutes so the meat catch the flavors.
3. Start filling the skewers with meat and vegetables.
4. Broil on low heat skillet with the lid on. (30 minutes)
5. Serve with toast or boiled potatoes.
